How to refine your results

Your Reco shortlist gets better the more you use it. There are two main ways to refine results — they work together and you can use either at any time.

Make sure you have at least one connected integration before expecting recommendations to appear.

Buying rules anytime

Buying rules are instant hard filters. Add or remove them whenever your stock focus changes — there is no need to wait for a sync cycle.

Examples: exclude a make you have too many of, cap mileage for a price band, or block a colour that does not sell on your forecourt.

Feedback on recommendations

The main way to teach Reco your preferences over time is thumbs up and thumbs down on individual vehicles.

How to leave feedback

Open Recommendations in the sidebar.
On each vehicle card, find the thumbs up and thumbs down icons next to View listing.
Click the thumb that matches your reaction.
A modal opens where you can add an optional comment:
- Positive: "What did you like about this car?"
- Negative: "What could be improved?"
Click Save. Your selected thumb is highlighted in green (positive) or red (negative).

Feedback mastery

As you rate more vehicles, a Feedback mastery bar tracks your progress. Your recommendations get more accurate the more feedback you give — use the thumbs up / thumbs down icons on each vehicle card to tell Reco what you like or dislike. Progress levels unlock at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 unique cars rated.

What happens overnight

Reco does not automatically re-score listings from feedback alone. Instead:

You rate vehicles during the day with thumbs up or down (and optional comments).
Our team reviews your feedback overnight.
We add or adjust buying rules on your account to reflect the patterns we see — what you consistently like and dislike.
Your next day's shortlist reflects those refinements.

This human review step means your feedback is turned into durable rules, not lost after a single session. Be specific in negative feedback — "too high mileage for the price" is more useful than a thumbs down alone.

Best practices

Rate cars you would actually consider — both positive and negative signals help.
Be specific in comments — mention mileage, spec, colour, or price when explaining a thumbs down.
Combine with buying rules — use rules for absolute deal-breakers; use feedback for finer preferences.
Check back the next day — refinements from overnight review show up in your updated shortlist.
